Fresh Air, the Zimbabwean registered airline who recently entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with South African low cost carrier, 1time Airline, is set to take to the skies on Friday, 2 November 2012 with their first flight departing OR Tambo International Airport en route to Victoria Falls Airport, Zimbabwe.
This follows as Fresh Air officially acquired the traffic rights to commence operations. As initially agreed, the JV encompasses 1time utilising its fleet of aircraft to serve the Fresh Air route, which subsequently replaces 1time’s current Livingstone flight schedule in favour of flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls Airport.
The route schedule, which as it stands, includes three weekly flights from OR Tambo International Airport on Mondays and Fridays at 10:40 am respectively, as well as a Sunday flight at 10:20 am.
Blacky Komani, CEO of 1time Airline says that the route introduction comes at an opportune time for Fresh Air due to the upcoming holiday peak season.
“As South Africa’s busiest holiday season dawns upon us, we have no doubt that our joint venture with Fresh Air will be anything other than successful. We also believe that Zimbabwe will benefit by the introduction of a low cost carrier to help stimulate tourism as well as business trade between the two countries,” says Komani.
Komani says the joint venture began before the airline filed for Business Rescue and that no additional costs will be incurred. “Fresh Air’s schedule to Victoria Falls is not an additional route, but rather a route swop between partners as it is replacing 1time’s Livingstone flights.”
Not only does the partnership further growth and development in Southern Africa, but reiterates 1time’s commitment to fostering successful business relationships that will aid the regional expansion of the low cost market, but will also continue providing passengers with the best possible service and cross-border rates. /ends
